A Celebration of Femininity

"Sensuelle" is a contemporary figurative oil painting exploring femininity, sensuality, and intimacy. A captivating original artwork for collectors and art lovers. The size of the painting is 80x60cm

Some paintings begin with a concept, while others are sparked by a single striking image. “Sensuelle” belongs to the latter. Before I even pick up a brush, I usualy spend a significant amount of time searching for the right pose, the right mood—an image that resonates. I go through many references, experimenting with different compositions, adjusting colors, elements, and positioning on my computer before settling on the final vision. This phase often takes longer than the painting itself, but to me it’s essential in shaping the outcome.

From Glimpse to Canvas

My process is pretty straightforward. I work “alla prima,” meaning everything is done in one go, without layers. Once the composition is set, I move to the canvas, working in oil. Although most of the paintings are carefuly planned, some unexpected (but rewarding) surprises or changes are sometimes needed during the actual painting stage. This method, where each part of the painting is completed in a single session while the paint is still wet, allows for a fresh, natural flow. There’s a certain spontaneity to this technique that I really enjoy. It can be a bit nerve-wracking, but there’s also a thrill in seeing the image build directly on the canvas. To be honest, I do not have the necessary patience to work in layers unless I have to add some minor glazes at the end (as I rarely need to). This work has soft yet precise transitions in skin tones, playing with warm and cool hues to bring depth and texture. The fabric and lighting add contrast, making the skin feel tangible while enhancing the sensuality of the pose.

Whispers of Intimacy

The mood, I think, is quite contemplative. I was drawn to this particular angle for its intimacy and subtle expressiveness. It’s not overtly sexual, but it hints at a quiet sensuality. That’s what I aimed to capture in the painting. There’s something captivating about how the feet are positioned—relaxed yet deliberate, inviting yet mysterious. There’s a feeling of vulnerability, too, I think, in the exposed skin and the intimate pose. Without relying on facial expression or direct gaze, the painting conveys a sense of femininity that is both playful and sensual. The dark red nail polish is a small detail that adds a touch of boldness and intrigue, contrasting with the overall softness of the piece.

Whether seen as a study of form or simply an invitation to pause and appreciate, “Sensuelle” is about finding beauty in the unexpected.
